Loose the fat

Hello everyone. I need some help. Ive been following HIT for about a year now and last week I found out i need to have surgery on my stomach to repair bits and pieces as a result of an RTA a few years back. The surgeon I spoke to said i needed to loose about 15kg before they can operate. I have got a bit of fat but not 15kg worth! Obviously I want to loose the fat and the least amount of muscle. I know I need lots of protien but what about carbs? Do I need a diet with a small amount of carbs? Any ideas Please help.

Im no expert, but i think you need a good amount of carbs…they recomended me what mike said…which is 60% cars 30 % protien and 10-15 % fat for each meals, and it seems to work well, could always try…staggerying your carbs throughout the week or what is known as carb cycling..here is the example how mine was set up Mon-400 grams of carbs, tuesday 300 grams of carbs wed- 200 grams of carb thurs- 150- fri- 50- sat- 50- sun- 250….ask around though, im sure there are other unique and maybe better examples on here to get the point across, mine was recomended by a trainer, and it seemed to work ok, after fooling around with it i changed it to fit how i wanted it…hope this helps…later

Hi Dale,

You wont lose mass as long as you keep training using HIT principles, dont overtrain, and dont cut calories too drastically. Forget about low carb diets. People forget that a muscle is about 3/4 water and that carbohydrate is needed to keep muscle tissue. Also you dont need lots of protien at all to keep muscle while dieting. Mike mentzer used to eat around 60 grams, yes 60 grams of protien a day while dieting and he was around 200lbs ripped! Stick to the ratio of 60/25/15, carbs/protien/fat.

Just drop calories by 500 and you will lose 1-3 pounds a weeks while keeping muscle.
